HMRC ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO FUEL RATES.Read More.....

The increase comes after it announced a decrease in May when they fell by 1p per mile (ppm) for smaller diesel and petrol fuelled cars.

HMRC has increased the reimbursement rate for diesel cars with an engine between 1601cc to 2000cc from 14ppmHilton Rental Renault to 15ppm, while the rates of 12ppm for cars with engines of 1600cc or less and 18ppm for cars powered by an engine above 2000cc remain unchanged.

Petrol rates see two changes, with the reimbursement rate for petrol cars with an engine between 1401cc to 2000cc increasing from 17ppm to 18ppm and from 25ppm to 26ppm for cars powered by an engine above 2000cc.

The rate of 15ppm for petrol cars with an engine size of 1400cc or less remains unchanged.

Meanwhile, the LPG rate for cars with engines of less than 1400cc also remains unchanged, but for those between 1401cc and 2000cc it falls by 1p to 11ppm and by 2p to 16ppm for cars over 2000cc.

The latest rates, which organisations use to reimburse drivers for fuel used on business journeys, take effect from Sunday (September 1).
